Children

We are experienced in dealing with all children matters including:-

• Residence (formerly custody)
• Contact (formerly access)
• Parental Responsibility. It is not always clear to what extent you are responsible for your children or what rights you have. We can give you clear guidance and helpful assistance on this issue
• Other Orders obtainable within the Children Act 1989
• Care Proceedings on behalf of parents, children or local authorities (and liaison with Social Services, particularly if Case Conferences are convened or Child Protection measures taken)
• Child Support issues (formerly maintenance) and liaison with the CSA
• Miscellaneous matters such as Change of Name of children

We will liaise with all parties concerned, including, welfare and court officers, contact centres and social services. We are acutely aware of the bond between parent and child and we will do everything in our power to preserve that relationship.

• Dissolution of Civil Partnerships
• Assisting in resolving any Financial Disputes

We offer a sympathetic ear and total confidentiality. We strive to resolve matters in a constructive, conciliatory and non-confrontational manner recommending Mediation where appropriate and avoiding court wherever possible. If Court proceedings become necessary, however, we are experienced advocates used to putting the best possible case for our clients.

Cohabitation

We can prepare cohabitation agreements and give advice on rights and obligations.

Domestic violence

We offer advice in this area and in particular with regard to issuing and defending any injunction proceedings. We have close links with womens’ refuges and have housing experts who may assist should safe accommodation be required urgently. We also offer an emergency out of hours service.
